Perfect for a downtown venue, a barn, or a hilltop elopement, this dress can be styled to fit any bride’s ideal wedding day, and is completely flattering to her figure. Galatia is the perfect combination of modern and bohemian, with a touch of sexy thrown in.  The velvet ribbons hit the bodice at two locations: the small of the waist for a natural waist line, and at the ribcage for a baby-doll empire.  The overall effect of the bodice fit is very slimming, and showcases the bust, waist, and hip line all together to get that hourglass vibe.  The bodice itself is a combination of ivory and nude tulle (the nude being the lining), for that sweet, but sexy look.  The back has a deep V, which is sectioned towards the waist line by a velvet ribbon, which showcases the back and shoulder blades nicely.  I will say, one VERY fine feature about the cut of the bodice is the coverage of super unflattering arm fat and back fat… Always a good thing.

The skirt is a super flowy A-line with large floral appliqués, which fold into the gown, adding some amazing texture.  The appliqués, which continue from the waist towards the bust, in addition to those on the skirt, have very subtle clear sequins.  This gives you a little bit of sparkle without going overboard.  The hemline is very easy to hem to the correct length.  The appliqués in the front are removed, and the edge is cut, side seam to side seam, and then the appliqués are replaced so you don’t lose detail.

Galatia also has a very sweet chapel train which moves beautifully, whether bustled for the reception or not.  There currently isn’t a bustle on the gown; that’s done in alterations, and totally depends on the style of the dress, and the heel height worn by the bride.  With the way the appliqués are placed, my bridal consultant recommended a “standard” bustle (where the tulle and appliqués are attached on the outside of the skirt by loops and buttons).  This shows off the skirt detail better, without cutting the appliqués in half.

Galatia is one of Watters’ top sellers for 2018, and while I LOOOOOOOOVE this dress, I’m choosing to go in a different direction for my wedding.  This gown is brand new, with tags, and only worn for a few minutes in the store with my bridal consultant present to make sure it didn’t pick up dirt on the hem.
